Ethan's School Concert

March 2, 2006
We enjoyed Ethan's Concert at Scandia Elementary School. Seemed a bit strange to have Donny sitting with us instead of on stage himself... my how time files.

Don and Ethan with bike

May 7, 2006
Donny and Ethan enjoy riding the tandem bike... although it was a challenge when they started! Lots of wibbel wobbeling... and Ethan wasn't sure about the whole adventure!

Ethan baseball

May 20, 2006
It's like stepping back in time... The thrills of 3rd grade baseball. Ethan's team has an excellent coach and the kids enjoy playing many positions. My neighbor and good friend Jenny Rohe and I were a little disappointed that her son Zach and Ethan didn't get on the same team. The did play each other so we got to see that game together.

Max Whitlock

June 10, 2006
Max and I took a trip to Jewell Iowa for a town celebration. We got to see many friends and relatives. We stayed with Denny and Carol Golden and had a great time catching up on news. At the afternoon tractor square dance (yes, tractor square dance and it was awesome!) we got a chance to visit with our instrumental music teacher from High School, Max Whitlock. I will always be grateful for his guidance in the instrumental world.

Max and Joan at Kendall Young Park

July 25, 2006
Max and I went down to Iowa again in July for my Mother's funeral. We were there ahead of time and took a stroll down memory lane. Our Grandmother Hendrickson often took her grandchildren to Kendall Young Park. It's still there but Max and I had a hard time finding it... the bridge that we used to take had been gone for many years. We asked for directions and got an alternate route and there it was... just as we'd left it, 40 some years ago.

Max, Joan and cousin Ray

July 26, 2007
Although funerals can be sad, my Mother's was uplifting. She lived til age 96 and we were able to get many of her memories written down while she was with us. One the happiest moments for me was seeing my cousin Ray Faubus. I didn't recognize him at first but when he smiled, I was overjoyed to see him. This photo is by the Carey stone where our Grandmother Hendrickson is buried. Ironically, Ray's wife was a neighbor of Don's in Des Moines when they were young.

Ethan Triathlon Donny Triathlon

Ethan Triathlon

Ethan Triathlon

July 29 and 30, 2006
Donny and Ethan competed in a real live triathlon in Chisago. This was a first for both of them. Ethan was really tired when he finished. He did well and received a ribbon and metal for placing in

the top 3. I think Donny was a bit more tired than Ethan when he finished. He was somewhere in the middle of the finishers... but it was a great showing for his first time. When running by a group of spectators they were cheering him on and he said "this is nuts!" But he keep on going. Don and I watched from the "staging" area.

Berker Cousins

September 23, 2006
My Mother's brother, JD Berkler, died two months after she did. Max and I made the trip to Iowa for his funeral. All the cousins were there. I don't know how many years had passed, but we did take time to take a photo. Auntie Marge insisted and rounded everyone up. It was like we were all little kids again and we had a great chuckle together. Back row: Chuck Berkler, JD Berkler, Max Hendrickson, Phil Redenbaugh. Front: Sandy Millikan and Joan Berry.

Taco Days

September 9, 2006
Ethan is counting his coins after the saw dust scramble at Taco Days in Scandia. This is an official Berry holiday and Ethan proclaimed it one of his favorites last year. It includes kids games, tacos served by the boy scouts, the firemen's hose battle and most important, the Taco Days Parade! The parade is short.... but everyone passes out candy to all the kids.

Taco Days

October 7, 2006
We are all getting into the bike riding mode. We have a set of bikes at our house now for all of us. These are trail bikes, not to be confused with racing bikes. Donny likes to use the trail bike for slow family rides. This was our first family trip from Forest Lake to Wyoming (the town just north of Forest Lake, not the state).
